Category Buyer - Immediate Start

We have an immediate start opportunity for a short term contract (up to the end of June 2018) for an Indirect Category Buyer, based in the Wakefield area.

As the successful candidate you will report directly to a Category Manager, as well as supporting the Head of Procurement in both defining and driving forward procurement strategies for your category spends. This will include, but not be limited to initiating and managing tender and pre-qualification exercises to meet business requirements, ensuring compliance with EU procurement legislation and negotiating with suppliers to deliver best value.

You will also spend time researching current and future market trends to help inform strategy and carry out ongoing contract management responsibilities.

As the successful candidate you will have;

  • A detailed knowledge of procurement processes
  • An understanding of OJEU Procurement legislation
  • A professional CIPS qualification (desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Full driving license and own transport as travel will be required

You must be used to a category procurement environment with a strong experience of negotiation and influencing stakeholders. With this being a public sector based interim contract, the applicants are advised that the role sits within IR35.
