Description

Leading law enforcement client has a requirement for 2 contractors to act as Communications Press & Media Senior Officer on a contingent labour basis to work in London for an estimated period of 8 months.

To support the Head of Press and Media and the Press and Media Manager in providing specialist media advice and support. To provide effective media handling advice as part of the 24/7 media function. To provide a professional service for journalists.

Essential

Proven experience in a professional communication role.

Demonstrate a sound understanding of communication theory and best practice.

Demonstrate a practical understanding of emerging press and media services, tools and trends, including techniques for optimising content.

Demonstrate a sound understanding of different stakeholders. Use this knowledge to ensure the tone, language and format of communication is easily accessible to, and read by, a range of stakeholders.

Use insight to identify target audiences and stakeholders, support decision-making and help inform the overall communication approach.

Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of value for money in communication delivery.

Communicate in a succinct and engaging manner using appropriate styles, methods and timing, including digital channels, to maximise understanding and impact.

Demonstrate an ability to express ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, and appropriate to message and audience.

Demonstrate flexible, creative thinking and the ability to develop innovative solutions.

Demonstrate an ability to measure audience figures and evaluate the wider success of digital communication channels and take steps to continuously improve them.

Experience of turning complex information into meaningful, easy-to-read, plain English copy that builds understanding of organisational imperatives.

Experience of finding ways to improve leaders' accessibility and support them in their two-way communication with officers.

Experience of working on own initiative in a fast-moving and high-risk environment.

Experience of monitoring, summarising and providing analysis of effectiveness indicators for communication.

Desirable

Industry-recognised communication qualification (such as CIPR/IoIC) or equivalent.

Membership of a professional communications body eg (Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Institute of Internal Communication)

This role will require security clearance to SC level, please advise if you are a holder but otherwise client will need to carry out vetting. So adding to this if you aren't available straight away or have a notice period this isn't necessarily a problem.
