Calypso Systems Analyst (OTC Derivatives)

Function background/context:

Job Purpose:

The Calypso Development Team plays a pivotal role in the success of the OTC Middle Office service. The remit of the team is to extend and enhance front to back service offering by understanding client and business requirements and translating these into functional solutions.

The OTC Derivatives System Analyst is responsible for working with business, technology and operational partners to ensure that new requirements are fully understood and documented, that technical design is fit for purpose and issues arising are analysed and addressed in a timely manner.

The ability to work in a high pressured environment with multiple concurrent programs while meeting delivery timelines with a high degree of client satisfaction and quality is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing business requirements - working with stakeholders to analyze the information provided and ensure requirements are fully understood
  • Analyzing existing Calypso processes across a number of applications and interfaces - thinking end to end
  • Working with peers to ensure that the team tasks are balanced against changing business and technical priorities
  • Create clear and transparent solutions, avoiding customized logic in favor of generic functions
  • Co-ordinate and review front to back impact analysis to ensure all risks are mitigated.
  • Support testing cycles (QA and UAT)
  • Support and ensure handover of new/modified processes to the Operational teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner and all issues and risks are communicated to the program as appropriate.
  • Ensure design and control standards are adhered to and managing any open design issues to resolution.

Competencies:

  • An in-depth knowledge and professional experience of Calypso Technologies Inc. derivatives valuation and trade processing software.
  • First rate understanding and professional experience of cross asset class derivative valuation models covering interest rate, FX, equity and credit derivative products.
  • Working knowledge and experience of downstream accounting systems such as Advent Geneva or Multifonds is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of and experience of the business flows related to Clearing, Collateral, Settlement functions
  • Professional experience in derivatives valuation using independent OTC valuation providers such as Markit and SuperDerivatives.
  • Sound Middle and Back Office derivatives processing experience, to include client Order Management Systems, Middle Office Monitoring systems, Settlements, Custodian Funding, and Collateral Management.
  • Sound technical analysis and data mining skills using Oracle tools (SQL)

Qualifications:

  • Higher Level/Professional Qualification
  • Very high degree of numerical and analytical ability
  • Bachelor's degree (in science, computers, information technology or engineering)
  • Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Extensive years of professional experience in the valuation of derivatives using Calypso v14.0 or higher.
  • Should have understanding for APIs required to extend or add data to the Calypso system, and to build interfaces between Calypso and external systems (data uploader framework)
  • Expertise in developing technology in support of pricing models and market data feeds which require on-going evaluation based on market fluctuations.
  • Experience designing/building front-to-back trade capture and work flow processing systems will be especially valuable.
  • Experience of working with XML, FpML is required.
  • Experience of working with reporting framework and task scheduling.
  • Solid working knowledge of and exposure to the Calypso admin tool and various Calypso engine logs.
  • Ability to analyse large data sets, including data mining in an Oracle environment using standard SQL tools
  • Demonstrable experience of configuration management
