Description

My client who is based in Jarrow, South Shields is looking for a Finance Administrator to administer an efficient and effective Financial Transaction Service that constantly delivers to SLA requirements and aims to exceed Shared Service Customer needs and expectations. This will initially be a 6 month contract with the potential to extend.

Deliverables of the role...
Part of a team delivering transactional and technical services including:
-Income and debt management
-Procure to pay
-System accounting
-Technical Accounting
-Telephone and on line support service which provides prompt and accurate information to both Shared Service customers and suppliers
-Performance reporting to external and internal customers
-System reconciliations and controls

In addition to ERP modules you will be required to work on other applications not limited to but including:

-Cheque printing
-Cheque Scanning
-BACS

Responsible for:

*Ensuring all transactional finance activity is undertaken in a consistent, efficient, high quality and customer focused manner
*Ensuring all invoices are paid in line with customer payment policies
*Providing advice to customers around systems and processes
*Adhering to all processing and reporting deadlines as indicated on the monthly processing timetable, including meeting response times agreed with each customer
*Ensuring standard operating procedures are followed for all activities
*Using initiative to recognise and suggest improvements and development opportunities
*To gain working knowledge of customer documentation, policies, procedures and working practices and to remain up to date on this
*Ensuring controls are adhered to within the service area to minimise risk of fraud and assist identifying fraud
*Ensuring company and Shared Service Centre policies and procedures are understood
*Behaving at all times in a professional manner including in all communications internally and externally
*Contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Finance Shared Service function as required by sharing knowledge and assisting with skills transfer
*To escalate at the earliest opportunity when obligations to Clients or other departments cannot be met
*Working in an organised manner, maintaining the clear desk policy and ensuring data confidentiality at all times
*Embracing the process of Continued Professional Development
*To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required commensurate with the level of the post
*To play a part in the BCDR crisis or incident management team when required.

The skills & experience you need

Qualifications - Essential

Desirable
*Demonstrate competence at a level equivalent to GCSE grade 4 A to 1C or equivalent

*NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent
Experience & Knowledge - Essential

Desirable
*Experience of working within a transactional financial team environment
*Experience of using modules of integrated financial systems
*Experience of local government and/or private sector services
*Experience of consistently delivering a service to customer targets
*Strong organisational skills
*Experience of working within a data input and numerical role
*Ability to demonstrate a strong customer focus and a passion for quality service delivery
*A proven flexible attitude to work and an ability to adapt to change with a disciplined work approach to ensure deadlines are met
*Ability to communicate effectively to customers and colleagues at all levels and adapt communication style as appropriate

*Experience of using the Agresso system modules
*Experience of working in the public sector, local government or any organisation of similar scale and complexity
*Experience in an outsourcing environment

The Role holder will
*Understand the regulatory, fair trading and competition rules relating to his/her work sufficiently to be able to comply with them, relying on his/her own knowledge or ability to recognise the need for specialist advice.
*Actively support, at all times, company policy and best practice in the area of security with particular emphasis on protection of sensitive customer information.
*Ensure that all team members are fully aware of the need to safeguard sensitive customer information at all times, so that our customers perceive BT to be a trustworthy organisation. You are authorised to access, use or disclose customer information only when you need to do so to perform your BT operational duties. Any other access, use or disclosure may only be made on receipt of additional authority in accordance with SEC/POL/A008 - Information Security.
