Senior User Researcher - Market Research - Digital - Mentoring
The role
As a user researcher, you will plan and lead user research activities in large teams and complex services. You will build user-centred practices in new teams, and align user research activities with broader service design work.
Job Specification
Main responsibilities:
Plan a wide range of user research activities to support the design, development and continuous improvement of complex services
Recruit participants, prepare discussion guides, design test tasks and moderate research sessions
Communicate user research findings to the team and wider organisation, helping them develop a deep understanding of users and their needs
Lead the analysis of user research data, working closely with product managers, designers and developers to turn research outputs into actionable insights leading to improved services
Build the department's research capability by fostering a culture of team involvement in user research and mentoring junior user researchers
Key skills and knowledge required:
Essential Criteria:
In-depth experience of user research, including strong working knowledge of a wide range of user research tools, methods and analysis techniques
Experience of helping teams to adopt user-centred service design and Agile delivery practices
The ability to understand the complex problems a team is trying to solve, and align user research activities to inform decision making and action
Experience of presenting user research findings in a wide variety of formats and contexts
Desirable Criteria:
Degree in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, market research or a related field
Previous experience working on government digital services

You will:
share responsibility for the digital transformation of government services at BEIS
have a vision for BEIS services and communicate this to both digital and policy teams
be a digital ambassador for BEIS, helping drive change in the department and raise digital awareness among both technical and non-technical staff.
