User researcher- Gov. Programme- Outside IR35
We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to lead on a User Research Project within a Government Department programme, focused on Digital, Data and Policy. The role is based in Central London, offering £500-£550 per day on a 6-month contract.
The successful candidate will work in an agile, multi-disciplinary team, primarily with Front End designer, developer(s), product manager and service managers and take responsibility for the user research roadmap and planning - including participant recruitment, lab booking, interviews, analysis and presentation of findings.
Essential skills and experience:
- Experience using a variety of techniques to recruit participants to meet a specific brief
- Skills autonomously planning and running user research sessions
- Experience facilitating group analysis of user research session output
- Skills in web analytics and surveys to understand user behaviours and measure performance
- Experience of working closely with other team members on rapid prototyping
- Experience prioritising user needs with product manager and team
- Experience identifying usability and accessibility issues
- Experience of working on agile projects as part of a multidisciplinary team, with regular user research, as outlined in the Government Service Design Manual and Digital Service Standard
- Experienced in meeting the Government's Digital Service Standards and understanding of how user researchers should follow best practice

- Experience researching how users access and use data and statistics
- Experience collaborating on stakeholder and engagement plans and events
- Experience of working with policy teams
