Senior Buyer
A Senior Buyer is required to work on an eight month contract, with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Glasgow.
This is an 8-month contract with a leading UK defence business.
Overview of the Senior Buyer contract role
The Senior Buyer will be a key part of the Indirect Procurement Services team based at Scotstoun on the Clyde and will provide procurement support on both strategic and operational activities within the Naval Ships business while ensuring adherence to the relevant business governance procedures. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of procurement tasks which will primarily be focussed on Capital and/or Construction projects but will also include contract/supplier management responsibilities.
Key skills required for the Senior Buyer
- Previous procurement & supply chain experience at Senior Buyer Level preferably within the area of Plant & Equipment and/or Construction procurement.
- Demonstrable track record of management of RFQ/Tender process.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of contractual terms and conditions and their application.
- Previous experience in the use of e-Sourcing toolsets.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work under own initiative and prioritise as appropriate.
- Customer Focussed.
- Strong MS Office skills.
- Strong analytical skills
The role is based in Glasgow - Commutable from Kilmarnock, Paisley, Greenock, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Edinburgh
