My client is looking for an SC cleared Sourcing specialist to join their team in Rugby. The successful candidate will have current SC clearance, Sourcing/Purchasing experience and managing commodities amongst other skills.

Role Summary/Purpose:
An exciting role working in a small team based on a military contract. Requiring a blend of skills based in the Sourcing organisation. Sourcing Specialist is responsible for defined commodity strategy, supplier/project management & expediting of their commodity parts.
In this role you will use your experience and expertise to develop a commodity strategy for a specific commodity and/or sub-commodities while driving commercial advantage through achievement in cost, quality and time. Solve problems, managing your suppliers to deliver against program objectives and contractual requirements. Developing and execute new supplier/commodity strategies to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
The objective is to meet existing program milestones as well as concurrently develop new suppliers for commodities moving forward.
Essential Responsibilities (no particular order):
Expediting:
- Collects documentation relevant to equipment to be expedited as per project and sourcing requirements as well as GE instructions
- Organises briefing with Sourcing Manager/Project team on status and next steps
- Confirms intervention with supplier (date & time, location, contact).
- Performs Expediting intervention as per requirements
- Review Action Log and confirm status/challenge suppliers to improve on their current position.
- Verifies compliance with agreed baseline schedules including special project needs.
- Identifies and report delays (if any) together with mitigation plan proposed by the supplier.
- Collects information from supplier about next intervention date
- Escalate issues internally within sourcing and project team as well as within the supplier whenever is needed
- Review next steps
- Support witness's inspections and customer meetings when requested.
Commodity Management:
- Ensure lowest possible cost for goods/services, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs while executing against set strategies.
- Develop and execute long term, commodity strategies for a moderate group of strategic suppliers, with varying complexity and/or annual volume
- Lead sourcing execution for assigned commodity(s) or suppliers, including full accountability for buy and meeting deflation targets.
- Interface with and assist Global Commodities team and Global Ops Sourcing to support global commodity strategy implementation
- Assist in identifying and driving new sources of supply and qualifying new suppliers in conjunction with Global Commodities team
- Drive consolidation of the supply base for assigned commodities and negotiate agreements with the suppliers
- Drive improvements in sourcing processes including escalations due to delivery/quality issues, invoicing/payables issues and database management through digitisation and simplification
- Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources. Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure sourced goods and services meet the needs of the business
- Solicit and evaluate proposals employing appropriate negotiation, cost and price analysis techniques
- Perform market analysis and monitor supplier progress. Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance and develop improvement strategies to ensure business needs are met.
Programme Management:
- Similar to the expediting element but focused on the key commodities assigned and specific issue to meet programme KPI's.
- Management of costs, project change and overall effects onto the project.
- Working with all functions to deliver the project, drive whatever necessary to ensure full project deliverables.
Desired Skills
- Security clearance is a requirement (SC)- support will be given if required
- Clean Driving Licence
- Demonstrated sourcing and/or purchasing experience or transferable skills including negotiation, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers and implementing contracts to achieve timely execution.
- Knowledge of managing commodities - fabrications, machining, assembly, welding work.
- Supplier management/progress against plans/working with supplier to deliver against plan.

- Strong PC and Microsoft Excel skills
- Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Purchasing system experience is preferred
