My high profile banking client are currently recruiting for a Trade support officer to join their Global FX Middle Office team. Global FX is an exciting and thriving area within the Middle Office space that covers all aspects of the FX business. The business itself is a key market player transacting in Spot, Forward, NDF (Non Deliverable Forwards), EFX (eTrading) and TFX (Transaction FX).

Role Description:

The GFX Middle Office is responsible for driving market wide projects which have captured the focus of senior management across both the Middle Office and Front Office and offers an excellent opportunity to develop a wide range of technical and soft skills while raising your profile across all areas of the business.

Due to the nature of the Foreign Exchange business (high volume of transactions, covering G10 and Emerging Market Currencies, multiple work streams and complex systems architecture) there is consistent interaction with Trading, Sales, Technology, Settlements and Operations throughout the day. The GFX Middle Office team is a key member of the companies FX business and how it functions on a daily basis making the area a fast paced and vibrant space to operate in.

The successful candidate will have experience in analysing processes and making improvements where required. A keen attention to detail, fast learner across a number functions and be able to engage key stakeholders of the business at senior levels will be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Regular reporting to senior management highlighting KPI's and KRI's
  • Daily interaction with key stakeholders within the business
  • Process improvement initiatives and aspects of system testing
  • Controls reporting for senior management
  • Projects Support

Essential Skills

  • Middle Office or Back Office experience (ideally Fixed Income)
  • Strong controls mind set and Project management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation skills and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work towards tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Excel (including data analysis, presentation, formulae and pivot tables)
  • Ability to challenge and improve existing processes
  • Self-managing capability to work alone and as part of a team whilst having
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills ability to build relationships across all levels

Desirable but not essential

  • VBA and other coding skills eg Python
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in a quantitative discipline and/or with financial markets focus

Competencies:

  • Proven analytical skills including data reconciliation and interpretation
  • Logical approach to problem solving - taking ownership and offering practical solutions
  • Understanding of operational risk and the full life cycle of a trade from execution to settlement.
