Interim Project Accountant required £350 - £375 a day - Outside IR35 - Either SC, Baseline or NPPV clearance required

I am looking for a experienced Project Accountant to provide advice at all levels (strategic, tactical, operational) on financial planning, achieving robust budgets, forecasts and outturns, demonstrating cost control and value for money, ensure that CNC financial policies, strategies, procedures and controls reflect the requirements of the force and comply with government standards and to help manage and control risk.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary working teams to manage projects and develop and implement new initiatives, giving programme/project directors the level of financial advice and support necessary to meet project milestones.
  • Undertake technical analysis and financial modelling on options for special projects and programmes enabling decisions to be taken as to their viability.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior officers and Board members
  • Design, establish and maintain complex financial models to assist in the delivery and monitoring of special projects and programmes
  • Carry out financial evaluation of bidders' proposals to establish value for money and affordability
  • Liaise with, manage and supervise external financial advisors
  • Ensure knowledge transfer between external financial advisors and internal staff, including provision of training where appropriate
  • Work with other organisations where appropriate eg joint projects or where similar projects are being undertaken
  • To work with or cover for the Business Performance Co-ordinator to produce financial analysis to support senior management decision making for the whole of Division as well as specific corporate areas;

To work with or potentially cover for the Business Performance Co-ordinator in the production of timely and accurate annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and monthly management accounts for submission to the CNC, FPPC, CNPA and Operators to enable them to make funding decisions for the CNPA.

  • The jobholder will possess a recognised professional qualification appropriate to the role egCIMA, ACCA, ACA, CIPFA.
  • This is a highly technical role; the jobholder will possess and demonstrate advanced technical ability (including strong analytical and advanced modelling skills), and advanced excel
  • The jobholder will demonstrate experience of managing teams with specialist roles, and of providing financial advice to senior management.
  • The jobholder will have sound problem solving skills, strong influencing skills and present financial information with clarity to stakeholders.
  • The job involves liaison with senior external and internal stakeholders including auditors, and the jobholder will exercise highly effective communication skills to build and maintain good working relationships.
  • The job holder will be required to travel on occasion once or twice a month in particular to the operating sites and a number of the locations necessitate overnight stays.
