Research and Process Manager (Pensions, Investment Management, CFA or ACA) 3 months, Canary Wharf

Research and Process Manager (CFA, ACA, Pensions, Investment Management) required to work for a global energy trading organisation for an initial 3 months based in Canary Wharf, London.

Research and Process Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Organisation Investment Managements investment processes are relevant, up-to-date and comply with regulation.

You will ensure that processes are being adhered to at a satisfactory audit-level standard. This will involve the training and monitoring of portfolio managers in process activities, and liaising with Compliance on best practice.

The role holds the relationship with the research providers. This involves the annual negotiation of the research budget with each service provider and the payment of research services in compliance with MiFID II.

The job holder will monitor risk in investment portfolios to ensure IMA restrictions are observed and assist Head in developing IM risk framework.

The post holder will work closely with Head of Investment Management on all the above tasks and ad hoc projects.

  • The job holder will be expected to have a good understanding of MiFIDII regulation and be able to pick up the MiFIDII Research related activities quickly
  • The job holder will be expected to gain an understanding of the investment classes that IM is responsible for, namely Equities, Private Equity and Property
  • The job holder will be expected to become familiar with systems such as Bloomberg, Factset and Barra and appreciate their use in investment analysis
  • The role monitors the production of research and analysis including new investment evaluation and keeping Green Top research notes up to date.
  • The job holder will be expected to gain an understanding of the equity process for passive management as necessary.
  • The role will be expected to hold the relationships with research providers, lead the annual research negotiation/budgeting activity and set the quarterly payments. The role will need to ensure that Research and Corporate Access are consumed in compliance with MiFID II regulation.
  • To begin with the job holder will supervise and support the production of reports and information packs for weekly, monthly and TAA meetings, however all or part of this activity may be passed on to the MI team as the latter function develops.

Essential skills required:

Bachelor degree

Professional qualification CFA, ACA

Evidence of strong numerical and analytical skills

Strong interpersonal skills required
