Splunk Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA (downtown)

Duration: 9 month+

W2 contract only

JOB SUMMARY

My client is actively seeking a Splunk Engineer to help lead the implementation of Splunk and the Splunk Enterprise Security module in a large, complex environment. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work for a company that is vital to securing the critical infrastructure within the US. The ideal candidate will be looking for continual growth, can think strategically but operate tactically, and most importantly, wants to make a positive difference to the people around them.

Designs, deploys, operates, and maintains Splunk and Splunk Enterprise Security systems for new or existing computer systems.

Day-to-day maintenance and operations of Splunk and the development of user access (eg rules, reports, and configuration)

Provide industry standard expertise in the deployment, configuration, and operations of Splunk and Splunk Enterprise Security.

Performs systems modelling, simulation, and analysis.

Develops customized Splunk dashboards for operations, security and management teams Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.

Plans and directs upgrades of systems, designs systems enhancements, and monitors capacity to maintain operational capacity, following change management processes.

Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

Develops and directs tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

Participates in special projects as required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent work experience.

Training and Certification in Splunk technologies.

Training and Certification in cloud technologies and services (preferably AWS, AZURE).

Qualifications

5+ or more years of related information technology experience.

Demonstrated experience in Splunk engineering and administration, including Splunk Enterprise Security.

Practical experience in infrastructure administration a plus (Linux, networking, Windows, Firewalls)

Ability to influence others using reasoning, persuasion, and negotiation; excellent interpersonal skills.

Strategic, but also pragmatic, detail-oriented, and willing to be hands-on.

Strong ability to learn new technologies in a short time.

Must possess well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
