Description

For our life-science client based in Friborug, Switzerland, we are looking for a:

Senior Accountant

Major Competences to:

Accounting & Reporting
Lead the preparation of monthly financial closing according to IFRS and local legal requirements including the reporting in the Novartis Reporting software FCRS
Ensure the creation and maintenance of adequate accounting records to meet local legal requirements and Novartis required standards. Act as point of contact for Finance for the ERP systems SAP/JDE ensuring correct system accesses.
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and new requirements according to the Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM).
Strong coordination with Novartis stakeholders for finance matters and projects (Local Finance organization, NVS Consolidation and Reporting team, Group treasury, Novartis tax, Supply Chain…etc).
Lead the reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts and manage quarterly balance sheet reviews with local and divisional stakeholders as well as ensure timely cleanup of overdue items.
Handle tax requirements.
Ensure specific/complex accounting matters are well addressed and solved on time.

Compliance and Internal Control
Promote a "strong and no exception" control environment.
Lead relevant tax, compliance and audit reporting processes and relationships for the entity, providing necessary data to internal and external authorities, and acting as a FSC point of contact for stakeholders when questions arise about reporting and/or compliance processes or results.
Ensure compliance with the Novartis Financial Control Manual and SOX 404 through maintenance of relevant FRA controls, reconciliations, management of documentation (Standard Operating Procedures).

Change Management / Projects
Lead finance related process changes to achieve best practice by proactively identifying gaps to standards, initiating and formulating change projects with IT and Finance management. Point of reference and expertise in the area of FRA for initiatives and projects led by other departments or sites.
Lead accounting and reporting projects to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
Proactively manage project status, potential gaps and next steps to ensure objectives are met.
Cooperation with other business units in driving X-BUs efficiencies and standardization.
Deputizing Supervisor FSC GA.

Requirements:

Certified specialist for Finance and Accounting or similar degree
5-10 years' experience in Financial reporting and accounting department.
Knowledge and practice of IFRS.
knowledge and practice of a local statutory GAAP (W Europe)
Knowledge of local tax (Income/VAT), Sweiss pension funds
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of SAP/ JDE.
Fluent in English (other languages internationally spread are an asset), both written and spoken.
