Job Purpose

The Management Accountant works alongside those maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, relevant General Ledger accounts and providing management reporting to stakeholders including Finance Business Partners. They provide key input to this process and lead many of the business facing items where calculation is required.

As part of this role the management accountant will help maintain the Fixed Asset Register and General Ledger in line with accounting policies and control framework. This includes ensuring the integrity of data flows from interfaced systems, transaction processing, month end close activities, balance sheet and other reconciliations, chart of account maintenance.

This role will also include the production and review of management information relating to capex including actuals, budget and forecasts.

Key Accountabilities

The key accountabilities of this role are:

  • Managing the impairment review processes for both Gas and Electricity
  • Dealing with asset capitalisation, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Ownership and calculation of interest capitalisation during construction phases
  • Understanding and explaining depreciation charges and variances
  • Maintenenance, support and development of SOX Controls and testing

The role also includes a number of reporting responsibilities including:

  • QuarterlyAnalytical Reviews:
    • Preparing and submitting a number of P&L and Balance Sheet reviews
    • Leading the review process through Record to Report and Business Partners
    • Representing the completed analyses at Group Reporting sign off meetings
  • Lead on quarterly rolling forecast process
    • Develop robust reporting to ensure quarterly forecast movements are tracked and documented
    • Provide and support reporting activities throughout process including guidance to stakeholders in order to consolidate accurately and robustly
  • Involvement in interim and full year audits
    • Answer queries and liaise with the wider Finance function
  • Provide support for RRP, annual and interim reporting
  • AdHoc Reporting including
    • Ad-hoc Finance Business Partner queries
    • Return on Equity reporting (RoE)

  • Reporting financial information
  • External auditor requirements and delivery
  • Understanding of Balance Sheet reconciliation
  • Fixed Assets reporting
  • Finance partnering
  • SAP expertise
