NDT Engineer - Munitions

An NDT Engineer with Ultrasonic Testing PCN Level 3 experience is required to work on a six-month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Washington.

This is a 6-month contract with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the NDT Engineer contract role

  • The NDT Supervisor will be responsible for the preparation and approval of NDT procedures.
  • The NDT Supervisor will be responsible for all current and future NDT processes being validated to meet the requirements of the business and the customer.
  • The NDT Supervisor will be responsible for the training of staff in accordance with PCN (Personnel Certification in Non-destructive Testing) requirements to Level 1 or Level 2 where applicable.
  • The NDT Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring liaison with the other functions such as Manufacturing Engineering, Safety, Quality, Procurement and Logistics is used to successfully tackle production issues.
  • The role requires an understanding of metallurgy, forging, machining and general engineering principles to support production and development projects.
  • Crucial in achieving the business requirements for the manufacture of munition components to the required quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Key Skills required for the NDT Engineer

Essential:

PCN Level 3 in Ultrasonic Testing

Desirable:

PCN Level 2/3 in Electromagnetic Testing

PCN Level 2/3 in Magnetic Particle Testing

Knowledge of other relevant NDT techniques (eg Ultrasonic Phased Array)

Degree qualified in engineering discipline

Appropriate managing safety qualification, eg IOSH, NEBOSH
