Role: Mortgage Technology Director (Specialised Lending Loans Mortgages Development Delivery Manager) required by our private banking client in London. You will inherit a cross-functional team of 8-12 that are in the process of customising, testing and integrating a 3rd party mortgage application. Release date is targeted for August/September. The product is roughly 50% customised or extended. Your initial objective will be to successfully release the product, overcoming it's current bugs and completing UAT. This will require strong and comprehensive management of the vendor and communication with internal stakeholders across Front Office and operations teams.

From there, the product will be further extended and improved. There will also be the migration of data from the Legacy application to the new product.

You will be part of a senior lending management team, representing IT, comprising members of the Front Office and operations to create strategy, process and technical solutions for new loans products. This will require an excellent knowledge of specialised lending, whether in a private bank or other capacity. Ideally, you will understand the lending life cycle from origination to servicing. The team will generate requirements that will require you to generate proposals and then solutions for. This will result in strategies with the collaboration of the business teams, operations and programme management including full deadlines and budgeting.

The team will also be responsible for a number of other applications used by the private bank. Some of these are built in-house and by the team. Others will be 3rd party or built and supported elsewhere in the banking group. You will manage these external relationships and the service given by these providers.

The role will be technical and require solutions and strategy that are best suited to the requirements from the business and best exploit your resources. In some cases, this might mean adopting Agile, cloud and modern technology for in-house solutions. In other instances, further use of 3rd parties might be more appropriate.

As a private bank, the loans and mortgages are bespoke. This requires adaptable technology and the delivery of rapid solutions to respond to new business product releases. Knowledge in this area would be ideal.

In 12-24 months, this role could lead to promotion into the Head of IT position for the private bank IT department. This, currently, is 90 people for 550 users. In the meantime, you might find it appropriate to extend and restructure the team.

The bank is consolidating technology and processes before launching a growth initiative that will mean the doubling of both their client base and lending by 2020.
