Description

This leading Fund Manager in client require an experienced Data Analyst Engineer to work on a greenfield Enterprise Data Management (EDM) initiative leveraging Bloomberg PolarLake to deliver extended mastering capabilities to Front Office business users and platforms, with a focus on benchmark data and analytics.

The role is an ideal opportunity to be cross-trained into the highly sought after Polarlake product suite and be focused on analysis, design and development of mastering solutions, ETL flows, data models and platform integration.

The successful candidate will have deep business knowledge of security and price master operational processes, proven implementation experience of Enterprise Data Management solutions from a business analysis and solution design pov, coupled with strong technical skills: -

  • Experience AWS cloud services ideally to include at least one of S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR, Dynamo, Aurora, RDS
  • Experience of Barclays POINT, Yield Book or similar
  • Knowledge of statistical modelling and big data analysis
  • Experience in preparing, refining, aggregating, structuring and optimizing performance of large data sets along different dimensions (eg position/instrument/counterparty level)
  • Data mart analysis and design experience, with knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modelling
  • Experience with cloud-based data processing and database/data lake technologies including: S3, Parquet, Spark, NoSQL (Hbase, Dynamo, Cassandra), Presto, SparkQL, Hive, Hive Metastore
  • Experience of Scala, Python, and Java languageAdvanced Excel expertise including VBA
  • Understanding of ATDD, TDD and test automation

The successful applicant will be responsible for: -

  • Analysis and documentation of complex Front Office investments data and analytics requirements
  • Ensure that documentation is high quality, thorough and complete, well understood by all parties and enables sign-off
  • Design and development of prototype solutions and workflows, assessment of alternative solution options and recommendations with supporting rationale
  • Pro-active and independent engagement with business and technology partners of varying associate/management levels to ensure clarity of the problem/opportunity and elicit business requirements, questioning and challenging where necessary
  • Data analysis, modelling, mapping and gap analysis across vendor solutions and disparate Legacy platforms
  • Design and development of data comparison and validation tools to support gap analysis of vendor solutions versus requirements
  • Communication with vendors to ensure requirements and solutions are clearly articulated and understood by all parties
  • Ensure project deliverable timelines are met and business priorities are delivered
  • Support technical partners with business SME knowledge
  • Actively participate in agile process, provide regular status updates to Scrum Masters/Project Managers
  • Identify risks and issues with prompt escalation and proposals for mitigating action
  • Assist Project Managers with planning and supporting tasks
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure stakeholders are fully engaged

Required Skills & Experience:

ALL applicants must have strong experience implementing security reference mastering solutions ideally PolarLake, but applications are very welcome if you have worked with other EDM technologies such as Markit EDM, Cadis, Eagle.  

  • Strong track record of analysing, modelling and mapping complex analytics and benchmark related data and supporting processes, and successfully delivering business solutions
  • Experience with Bloomberg Back Office files, Per security, B-PIPE, API
  • Experience and understanding of a broad range of asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, Money Market, Mortgages, FX, Derivatives, Municipals
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; demonstrated ability to employ fact-based decision-making to resolve complex problems, by applying logic analysis, experience and business knowledge
  • Agile/Scrum practices, principles, mindset and tools eg Rally and JIRA
  • Strong SQL skills/knowledge of relational databases and concepts
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and suggest solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others in a global team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
