Job Description:

Sr. Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Manage cross-functional projects across multiple business units. Apply a consultative approach to assist with functional, technical, and operational planning and design for the implementation of new systems and/or product enhancements
  • Comprehend overall project scope and dependencies and how individual project actions or deliverables align to them
  • Lead and direct the work of others in a Matrix, cross-organizational project team
  • Execute best practice project management capabilities aligning to client PMO methodology and standards
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Prepare steering committee and executive-level materials and present to executives, vendors, and customers
  • Manage and build relationships with key decision makers from project inception to post-deployment while simultaneously ensuring sponsor and end-user satisfaction
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate project portfolio management software
  • Plan and manage the project financial plan, including tracking and reporting actuals and forecasts within approved budget
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations in team meetings and Steering Committee meetings as appropriate
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and work with other department managers to obtain commitments on assignments
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Anticipate and respond to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • PMP certification strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of Banking/Financial Services experience preferred
  • 10+ years' hands-on experience leading program/projects (project planning, project controls/monitoring, budget management, setting and managing customer expectations) utilizing waterfall, iterative and Agile practices and methods
  • Previous experience in delivering various technology projects and upgrades
  • Consulting background is a plus
  • Experience leading third party applications projects
  • Understanding of technical change management concepts
  • Proficient with project management software
  • Proficient with MS Office applications for reports, analysis, and presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to be influential and establish positive working relationships throughout the organization, including senior management
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including management, team members and stakeholders
  • Detailed-oriented with a proven history as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact with and lead meetings at all levels, including executives
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Experience in mentoring less-senior personnel in aspects of the profession such as leadership, methodology, tools, people skills and navigating politics
