Job Description:
Sr. Project Manager
Responsibilities:
- Manage cross-functional projects across multiple business units. Apply a consultative approach to assist with functional, technical, and operational planning and design for the implementation of new systems and/or product enhancements
- Comprehend overall project scope and dependencies and how individual project actions or deliverables align to them
- Lead and direct the work of others in a Matrix, cross-organizational project team
- Execute best practice project management capabilities aligning to client PMO methodology and standards
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Prepare steering committee and executive-level materials and present to executives, vendors, and customers
- Manage and build relationships with key decision makers from project inception to post-deployment while simultaneously ensuring sponsor and end-user satisfaction
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate project portfolio management software
- Plan and manage the project financial plan, including tracking and reporting actuals and forecasts within approved budget
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations in team meetings and Steering Committee meetings as appropriate
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and work with other department managers to obtain commitments on assignments
- Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
- Anticipate and respond to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree preferred
- PMP certification strongly preferred
- 3-5 years of Banking/Financial Services experience preferred
- 10+ years' hands-on experience leading program/projects (project planning, project controls/monitoring, budget management, setting and managing customer expectations) utilizing waterfall, iterative and Agile practices and methods
- Previous experience in delivering various technology projects and upgrades
- Consulting background is a plus
- Experience leading third party applications projects
- Understanding of technical change management concepts
- Proficient with project management software
- Proficient with MS Office applications for reports, analysis, and presentations
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to be influential and establish positive working relationships throughout the organization, including senior management
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including management, team members and stakeholders
- Detailed-oriented with a proven history as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact with and lead meetings at all levels, including executives
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
- Experience in mentoring less-senior personnel in aspects of the profession such as leadership, methodology, tools, people skills and navigating politics
