The FBP GDT is a business critical role a and will be delivering key analysis and management information to the business delivery group they will play a significant part in driving the continued success of the Group

Essential:

  • A fully-qualified accountant with proven experience of success in a commercial environment.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of Central Government
  • Experience in an IT environment

Scope and Objectives

The role holder will provide all aspects of Finance Business Partner support to the key stakeholders across the business. Reporting into the Head of Finance (Head of FBP's ) as part of the Finance Group the individual will need to be able to influence, lead and partner' key senior members of the business in developing sound financial evaluation and commercial input, maximising financial performance through high quality analysis, decision support and financial insight.

The candidate should ideally have Strong IT Infrastructure experience.

The individual will be comfortable and confident working in a Matrix' structure as the role involves a substantial element of cross functional working' both with finance and non-finance colleagues.

The FBP will operate within the Finance Framework ensuring the Company adheres to the appropriate management of risk, compliance, governance and control.

Financial and Commercial Performance

  • Maximise financial performance through the provision of high-quality analysis, decision support and financial advice to line management.
  • Lead the analysis and challenge major deviance in performance, offering solutions to effect improvement in all financial areas.
  • Provision of professional financial commentary and presentation of regular performance reports to key stakeholders.
  • Lead production of business plans, annual budgets and in year forecasting, working closely with the business and other finance colleagues.
  • Evaluate and influence Commercial/Sales business opportunities (understanding contract risk)
  • Evaluate and influence Investment appraisal of business cases in particular for Capital Expenditure.
  • Provide support and validation in all Pricing decisions (fully understanding cost base and impact on margin).
  • Provide professional advice to the business, ensuring governance in all key financial and business controls and processes.

  • Develop and implement forward looking and customer focussed solutions through understanding business costs, drivers, and revenue streams.
  • Communicate, in line with culture
  • Drive the corporate finance agenda, bridges business understanding & governance gaps implementing solutions where required
  • Use finance skills to influence business decisions
  • Provide insight and influence all key financial business decisions
  • Report on and provide MI for key business areas such as Risk, Operational Management Boards; Business reviews; Finance SMT
  • Manage a collaborative and productive relationship with Strategic Finance and BUSS
  • Provide relevant information and data; assist the NAO and internal auditors

  • Provide financial support & review to explain or improve performance both in the short and over the longer term (strategic)
  • Provide effective, evidence based, actionable MI to support effective, evidence based decision making in complex and diverse situations
  • Lead post-project review & lessons learned to deliver meaningful changes as a result
  • Ensure integrity of business management accounts; provide confidence that MTAs are a fair reflection of business performance
  • Has a mind-set of Continuous Improvement; drives best practice and monitors and drives the achievement of the efficiency programme across the corporate plan period.
  • Recognises accountability & responsibility to FCO Services overall
  • Deliver value for money - ensure the efficient, effective and economic use of taxpayers' money in the delivery of public services.
  • Seek and implement solutions which achieve a good mix of quality and effectiveness for the least outlay.
  • Base decisions on evidenced information and follow agreed processes and policies, challenging these appropriately where they appear to prevent good value for money.
  • Embed a culture of value for money within area/function. Works collaboratively across boundaries to ensure that the Civil Service maximises its strategic outcomes within the resources available.
  • Understand and clearly explain performance variances against budget.

Candidates submitted for this role must be British nationals, to confirm

  • They are a British citizen or hold dual nationality, and

Due to the nature of this work Government security clearance of SC will be required and DV clearance would be an advantage.

Skills and Knowledge Transfer

Contractors will be expected to deliver skills and knowledge transfer of both their contracted work, and their technical expertise and experience during their contracted time.
