Our highly reputable public sector client has a fantastic opportunity for a driven and ambitious Finance or Management Accountant to join their central Glasgow based team in a permanent role.

As the qualified Accountant, you will have substantial experience in a financial accounting and/or audit role in a large complex organisation and preferably will also have experience in a taxation and/or treasury role.

Playing a key role in the provision of financial information, you will be comfortable with technical accounting requirements and will be able to adapt to changes in accounting/taxation requirements. You will have a key role in financial accounting matters, including preparation of year end accounts, and will be responsible for treasury management, taxation and insurance within the organisation. An excellent communicator, you will be thorough, accurate and able to multi-task to tight deadlines.

Your main activities and responsibilities will include:

* Using specialist financial expertise to ensure effective treasury management including the ongoing development of the organisations Treasury Management Policy and Procedures.

* Responsible for cash flow forecasting, placing cash on deposit and managing the maturity of deposits to meet the cash requirements of the organisation within the Treasury Management Policy.

* Leading on the companies VAT arrangements including the preparation, review and submission of quarterly VAT returns and other VAT reports, and the provision of advice to the organisation particularly to aid strategic decision making on the VAT implications of proposed projects or changes in the external regulatory environment.

* Directly responding to more complex matters and supporting a finance assistant in dealing with more routine aspects of VAT.

* Responsible for the production of the annual corporation tax return and the provision of advice to the organisaton on corporation and other tax matters, particularly to aid strategic decision making regarding the implications of proposed projects or changes in the external regulatory environment.

To carry out this role successfully you will have the following experience:

* Professional accounting qualification

* Substantial experience in a financial accounting or audit role in a large complex organisation

* Knowledge and experience of financial systems and preparation of financial statements. Proven analytical and problem solving skills

* Excellent communication skills - both oral and written - with the ability to engage collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to influence outcomes positively

* High level of IT skills, especially Word and Excel with the ability in particular to structure, analyse and interpret complex financial data

* Ability to prioritise work successfully in order to deliver to multiple deadlines

Experience in a taxation and/or treasury roles would be highly advantageous.
