Description

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who prides themselves on their ability to deliver and has a flair for engineering and robust engineering practices. As a key member of the Operations Team you will have a detailed understanding of measurement processes and will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role exists to ensure dimensional conformance of incoming goods and in-house assemblies is monitored, and that potential non-conformances are identified and actioned. This includes definition of measurement methods, carrying out Measurement System Analysis, measurement of components, and active participation in problem resolution and other continuous improvement activities.

The post requires a working knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, general metrology techniques, CMM Programming, CMM operation and root cause analysis.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Development of repeatable measurement techniques
  • In conjunction with and under the guidance of the Quality Manager, conduct on-going analysis of the measurement systems/techniques (MSA) to identify and prioritise measurement process improvement opportunities
  • Develop of CMM Measurement techniques and programmes to support production and product/process development activities
  • Compile Standard Work Instructions to document measurement processes using the company's core business system
  • Co-ordinate gauge/instrument calibration activities and maintain associated records.
  • Carry component and assembly inspection activities and maintaining associated records.
  • Completion of dimensional reports for PPAP purposes
  • Take part in supplier visits as required
  • Deliver annual objectives set by functional manager
  • Undertake other additional duties that may be required from time to time as determined by the company

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience gained in a manufacturing quality or supply chain quality environment, preferably in high volume manufacturing business to set the right standard
  • Extensive experience in general metrology techniques
  • Extensive experience of CMM programming and operation (Preferably Mitutoyo MCOSMOS Software)
  • Experienced in the use and creation of dimensional/inspection reports
  • A team player with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to influence others by demonstrating a positive "can do" attitude
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work at pace in a multi-project environment
  • Candidates must have UK driving license
