The Role
My client are looking for somebody who gets a really enjoys helping product teams at speed in a successful agile environment, drawing on a wide range of skills covering software development, technical architecture, IT service management and infrastructure operations.
You'll be leading and growing a small function providing DevOps as a service to the product development teams, and be provided with as much autonomy as you require to achieve this.
Responsibilities
- Analyse, plan and begin the execution of a platform consolidation in order to reduce our hosting costs
- You'll own the overall operational integrity and reliability of the deployed systems through the leadership of a small team
- You will be the leader and product owner of the roadmap within the platform team ensuring that work is being conceptualised and driven through to completion
- You'll have the mission to continuously drive improvements in operational visibility through metrics, logs, and alerts whilst upskilling teams in operating their own services and sharing knowledge throughout the engineering organisation
Current stack:
- PHP, GO and Javascript are used to power our Back End services, MySQL as our main datastore.
- A blend of Kubernetes to schedule and orchestrate Docker containers to run our services, as well as more traditional ansible powered deployments onto ec2 instances.
- Helm to package and deploy to Kubernetes.
- Terraform, Ansible, Concourse CI,Jenkins to configure and deploy our infrastructure, platform and services.
- Prometheus & Grafana for monitoring and graphing.
- Filebeat, Elasticsearch and Kibana for logging.
Initial 6 month contract
