Role Summary:
Artillery Systems requires an Engineering Manager with Weapons, Ordinance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME) experience to work on the in-service Multi-launch Rocket System and associated systems.
Key Aspects:
- In close collaboration with the Delivery Manager (DM) take over leadership of the experienced engineers and control and contribute to the management of the in-service
- Ensure practices and procedures comply with DE&S policy and
- Produce or contribute to engineering plans, reviews and
- Collect, collate and evaluate technical data, review technical equipment and systems, and make recommendations to the
- Lead on the WOME engineering with advice from the Defence Ordinance Safety
Responsibilities:
- Lead the experienced engineering team currently of two Level 2 Engineering Managers; one Civil Servant and one Army Warrant
- Use MOD and industry practice and procedures to analyse a complex environment and recommend solutions.
- Establish the engineering approach to the project including Ordinance, Munitions and Explosives expertise.
- Write and contribute to documents such as Engineering Management Plans, Trials Plans, Safety and Environmental Cases, Safety Notices and Technical Publications as
- Collaborate with other member of Artillery Systems and DE&S to produce the best outcome in the available
Working knowledge of;
- The DE&S business (eg purpose, strategy, standards, regulatory constraints, structure, policy, processes, procedures and tools and their intent).
- DE&S Engineering processes in order to deliver work as
- WOME
- Systems Engineering
- Front Line Command customers, their technical requirements and forward
- Availability, Reliability and
- Army Equipment Support Publications
- Legislation compliance
Tools and Techniques;
- The skills to contribute to the application of the Guide for Engineering Activities & Review (GEAR).
- Systems Engineering techniques for analysing, presenting and solving
- Planning techniques.
- Good written
Engineering Management Skills;
- The skills to understand and influence the design of a system, component, or process to meet customer requirements within realistic constraints (such as technical, economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, and sustainability).
- The ability to help identify, formulate and solve engineering, science or technology problems.
