Modis are currently recruiting for a Defence company based in Buckinghamshire looking for two Senior Systems Engineers on a contract basis to assist in the workload on a number of projects. Candidates must be able to gain SC level security clearance.
The role will utilise your experience of DOORS Requirements capture and management as well as experience with Electronic Systems in the Defence Industry (inc Radar, Communications systems or Tactical Data Links, Link 16/Link 22).
Experience within the Defence or Aerospace industry is essential and also full systems engineering life cycles.
Role: Senior Systems Engineer
Rate: £428 per day
Location: Buckinghamshire
Duration: Initial 6 months
Responsibilities
Responsible for the conduct of allocated Systems Engineering activities including analysis, design, review and verification either on a small project or within a Systems Engineering team.
- Conducting System Engineering using the outputs of the various engineering teams
- Defining the system's sub-systems and their requirements including hardware and software
- Developing and continually refining the system acceptance strategy, and verification method for each system requirement. This includes writing the Acceptance Management Plan and Test Specifications.
- Ensuring the specification, design and acceptance are fully traceable
- Ensuring compliance of the design to the technical requirements and project constraints (eg cost)
- Deriving, defining and documenting:
- System Acceptance Test Specifications,
- System Functional Test/Factory Acceptance Test Procedures
Essential Skills required:
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices and common pitfalls.
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering methodologies, processes and tools
- Appreciation of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of the Systems Engineering life cycles.
- Experience of the DOORS
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of electronic systems used in the defence industry (eg Radar, communication, weapon, fire control, decoy, surveillance).
- Knowledge of legislative arena from an engineering perspective
- Knowledge of the operational and organisation structure of the UK or similar armed forces, especially Naval.
- Experience of Airborne C2 tactical data links (Link 11/Link 16).
