Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer
A Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is required to work on a six month contract, with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Southampton.
This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence business.
Overview of the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer contract role
An experienced Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer with manufacturing industry experience is required to support the existing Quality Assurance team; working with Leonardo Project Managers, Design/Development teams, Operations and Procurement to improve the quality, cost and on time delivery for parts delivered from Suppliers.
The Business has developed working relationships with key Suppliers; working with the procurement function, this role is an essential part of developing Suppliers to improve overall Supplier performance.
Maintaining effective working relationships with key Suppliers for defect management and defect reduction activities is key to this role.
Key skills required for the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer
- Educated to HNC/HND level in relevant science or engineering subject.
- Familiar with Quality tools and techniques - (D)FMEA, Root cause analysis eg 8D, statistical techniques.
- Experience in a relevant manufacturing based industry (for example - electronics, semiconductor, optical packaging, medical, automotive, Space or defence)
- Understanding of and practical application of Quality Improvement tools and techniques, including SPC, FMEA, FAV/FAI, RCA and 8-D.
- Able to understand sufficient technical information to have informed and effective discussions with Suppliers.
- Effective communicator to all levels of the business
- ISO9001 Experience (AS9100 preferred)
- Able to lead Supplier Quality Assurance activities across a variety of product and functional teams
Desirable
- Familiar with SAP
- Knowledge of configuration management principles
- Trained internal auditor
The role is based in Southampton - commutable from Portsmouth, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester
