Physical Security Auditor (Utilities/2 year contract)

£425 - £450 per day

The purpose of this role is to support the UK Controls and Assurance Manager to conduct BEIS sponsored Technical Audits on the company's Security construction projects. The post holder will assess the design and construction of the ISS to reduce the vulnerability of site against a predefined security threat.

The post holder will check compliance against the Centre of Protection for National Infrastructure (CPNI) Energy Sector High Level Security Principles, as well as CPNIs recommended products list and installation guides. The post holder shall also be required to assess non-compliant innovative solutions against approved solutions for suitability.

The post holder will also be required to support the Controls and Assurance manager on conducting assurance on the wider estate to check compliance with basic security controls and the condition of operational assets.

Qualifications Required:

Member of the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) as a General Security Advisor or for both Part C: Electronic Security Systems AND Part F: Protection Against Forced Entry.

Hold Chartered status as a Chartered Security Professional, providing case studies and proof of relevant training to support competency in assessing the quality of installation and equipment selection for the protection against forced entry and electronic security systems.

Or,

Listed on the UK Register of Independent Security Consultants with the Association of Security Consultants (ASC), providing case studies and proof of relevant training to support competency in assessing the quality of installation and equipment selection for the protection against forced entry and electronic security systems.

Knowledge, Experience & Technical Know How:

  • Proven experience of working with key Government departments and Law enforcement agencies, supporting wider UK Government Counter Terrorism and Crime prevention Strategies
    Excellent knowledge of physical security and related principles.
  • Proven track record of advising and assuring physical security programs including electronic security systems.
  • Proven people management skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of credibility and influence senior stakeholders within the organisation and key external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering business requirements to time and budget constraints.
  • Prior Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) experience is essential.
  • Experience of managing Government marked information and material, up to Official-Sensitive.
  • Ability to produce succinct assurance reports highlighting compliance to external and internal policy, standards and guidance.
  • Able to be pragmatic and consider the value of security against the design and purpose of approved and innovative security products
  • Willing to travel around the UK, sometime at short notice to remote sites (own vehicle required)
  • Must have previous experience in designing, developing, implementing and managing of security programs.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, financial, management, and administrative experience within the security industry.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the UK Controls and Assurance Manager on delivering the BEIS sponsored Technical Audits at the end of the construction of a high security site.
  • Responsible for producing compliance and assurance templates for the project team to complete prior to the technical audit.
  • Complete vulnerability assessments of completed sites against the BEIS requirement to protect the estate against a terrorist event.
  • Interpret BEIS and CPNI requirements set out in principles and guidance documents.
  • Responsible for producing succinct assurance reports to be shared with BEIS outlining the ability of the delivered solution to reduce vulnerability against a predefined threat.
  • Responsible for assessing and approving innovative security solutions proposed which are outside of current policy.
  • Support the UK Controls and Assurance Manager in delivering a NG wide assurance programme.
