Our public Sector client are looking for a Management Accountant for a 9 month contract based in Edinburgh. Reporting into the Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the client's corporate budget position and reporting forecast outturns to the board.
Key duties will include:
- Managing the in-year base-line budget position and ensure that additional funding requirements have been through appropriate approval levels
- Co-ordinate and support annual financial planning including: completion, submission and reviewing of financial plans whilst ensuring that total budget allocation is within the Budget Statement Funding.
- Support Directors and CEO in the financial management of their functions and projects including budget monitoring and preparation, and in review and submission of financial business plans.
- Provide specialist advice on key financial management issues including: budgeting and forecast outturns, financial planning and risk management.
- In conjunction with the Financial Accountant, be responsible for capital accounting - working with project managers and estates colleagues on major infrastructure projects: incl. profiling of capital budgets, budget requirements, balance sheet classification.
- Developing an accurate and relevant management reporting systems
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- Membership of a CCAB professional body (or equivalent).
- Significant knowledge of public sector reporting: including budgeting, financial management and capital accounting under IFRS. Ideally with significant public sector experience at a senior level.
- Proven ability to deliver effective management reporting systems and processes
- Experience with a senior finance role providing effective, professional advice.
- Highly technical and IT literate with advanced Excel skills.
