Structures Engineer - F-35
A Structures Engineer with F-35 experience is required to work on a twelve-month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Samlesbury in Blackburn.
This is a 12-month contract with a leading UK defence company.
Overview of the Structures Engineer - F-35 contract role
- To assist in providing technical support to production non-conformances raised during F-35 build.
- In May 2018 the F-35 MRE Static Stressing Team was instructed to utilise the "final" SSOR (Block 3F) aircraft loading in their analysis supporting the approval of F-35 concessions. This has required additional effort and time to carry out this analysis which has resulted in an increasing backlog of concessions on this Team and delays in the provision of approved concessions to Operations and IIP Companies with the potential for holding up deliveries, which justifies the need for additional Structures resource.
- Resolution of technical issues ensuring product safety and engineering integrity is not compromised.
- Review and check work undertaken by other engineers and engage with stakeholders.
- Ensure continued flow of F-35 aircraft production.
Key skills required for the Structures Engineer - F-35
- Stress Engineer with specialist knowledge and at least extensive experience in the stress analysis of both metallic and CFC composite aircraft structures
- A working knowledge of Nastran/Patran FEM analysis toolsets
- Word/data processing toolsets (ie MS Word and Excel) to produce static stress calculations and reports in support of providing structural approval of non-conformances and other issues arising from production.
- Previous experience of providing engineering support to aircraft production is essential, previous F-35 experience preferred.
The role is based in Samlesbury, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds.
