Senior Communications Manager - Digital Transformation & Change

The role of the Senior Communications Manager is to develop and deliver the required communications and engagement activity to successfully complete the specific programme objectives for Finance transformation. This will include the opportunity to take a lead role and co-ordination of specific elements within the programme.

The Senior Communications Manager supports the Global Finance Communications Director, Programme Head and Workstream Leads. The aim is to ensure business leaders, change agents and impacted employees are regularly engaged, understand the reasons and benefits of the changes, what this means for them, how they will be supported throughout the transition and how we know we have been successful.

This role is required to be based in GSK House (Brentford, London) with no or limited opportunity to travel.

  • Finance/Digital transformation with experience of operating model/analytics.

Responsible for comms planning and delivery of comms and engagement activities, reporting progress against plan and managing risks and issues, in partnership with fellow Change, Comms and HR worksteam members.

Ensure that the centrally defined communications and engagement approach is applied appropriately across the programme and there is alignment of messaging, approach and timing.

Collaborate to ensure an integrated change, comms, HR and culture programme plan at a global, regional and BU/function level

Create comms solutions to help manage change impact, risks and issues

Provide coaching and support to leadership

Provide audience insights and analysis

Use story telling to support transformation journey and illustrate key proof points

Education/Experience

The role requires the ability to work effectively in a complex Matrix structure and with complex information. A strong ability to synthesize facts into an overall picture and identify gaps will facilitate success. Ability to influence and communicate with senior stakeholders is essential.

Experienced communications professional with proven ability to manage complex and large scale transformational change communications and engagement.

The Senior Communications and Engagement Manager role is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of communications and engagement activity within the programme and providing expertise and coaching to the programme team and senior leaders as required.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English

Solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process

Excellent active listening skills and knowledge of effective listening tools and techniques

Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships

Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

Agile and flexible; able to work in ambiguous situations

Forward looking with a holistic approach

Organised with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics

Team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others

Acute business acumen and understanding of organisational issues and challenges

Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project life cycle

Experience of digital communications would be an advantage

Experience within GSK and of Finance operations would be an advantage

Effective in an environment with tight deadlines, finite resource and uncertainty

Strong learning agility

Tenacious self-starter and Completer finisher
