Finance Data Modeller

Warwick

3 months Contract

Job Purpose

To provide data analysis and basic modelling support to the RIIO T2 Finance Business Partnering team using appropriate tools to develop tailored financial data sets to support decision making.

This will involve working with the Finance Business Partners and the wider ET/GT businesses to understand the current data available including any issues with the data at hand and ensure intelligent data manipulation that will be used to structure the basis of the T2 business plan submission to Ofgem.

It will also involve identifying any key data limitations and possibility of working with incomplete data sets and finding a way to explain the impact of the key variables, providing tipping points and boundaries for variables clouded by uncertainty.

There is also expected to be a level of ad-hoc support provided based on the topical priorities of the RIIO T2 Finance Business Partnering Team.

Essential experience required

  • Proven accounting experience and commercially minded and a degree of financial or management accounting experience.
  • Broad knowledge of mainstream financial systems.
  • SAP and BI knowledge is essential.
  • Ellipse, Analytics tools (Spotfire, Tableau) and other industry related systems would be an advantage.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and analytical skills coupled with sound financial and commercial acumen.
  • A track record of illustrating trusted support and advice to managers across the business
  • Self-starter with drive and ability analyse processes makings suggestions on improvements
  • Ability to tailor presentation of findings from data analysis to aid discussions with non-financial business colleagues
  • Ability to operate within a fast moving reactive role working to tight deadlines
  • Datamodelling skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and sound judgement
  • Broad range of financial or management accounting experience within a well established finance department or directorate

  • No direct budget but working as part of the RIIO T2 Regulation Finance team working up supporting evidence for Ofgem submission of ET/GT business plan
  • No direct reports, but part of wider virtual teams

Key Tasks

  • Interrogation of mainstream financial systems
  • Assist with analysis and information gathering associated with ET OPEX and GT CAPEX T2 business plans
  • Support key data analysis and manipulation and possibility of the creation of financial models to support scenario based analysis
  • Attend all key RIIO T2 FBP meetings to understand the areas where data analysis is required/where additional support may be required
  • Provide a steer to the best practice ways to analysis a particular data set
