EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY:

Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for Risk Manager to join an established team, tasked with enabling a large scale programme of work, delivering secure access to information and communication services for users across various locations in the UK and overseas, providing a configurable network that has a single sign-on.

The Risk Manager will be dedicated within the programme management office to fulfil risk and issue management, supporting better decision-making through an improved understanding of risks and issues and their likely impact.

In addition and linked to the management of risks and issues, there is a requirement to manage assumptions, dependencies and opportunities in order to ensure the programme remains aligned with other programmes within the portfolio. This is working for a key Defence sector customer on an initial six-month contract.

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have a current security clearance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the strategies for handling risks and issues.
  • Review the risk and issue management cycle.

Core:

  • Organise and Chair Risk Working Group.
  • Manage and coordinate the information and support systems to enable efficient handling of the programme's risks and issues.
  • Maintain the programme risk register.
  • Maintain the programme issues register.
  • Maintain the programme opportunities register.
  • Following liaison with the programme Requirements Managers (RMs) maintain the programme assumptions list.
  • Maintain the programme dependencies register.
  • Review, facilitate and maintain the risk management cycle.
  • Review, facilitate and maintain the issues management cycle.
  • Provide support and advice on the risks and issues to projects.
  • Coordinate risk and issues management interfaces with projects and external (dependent) programmes.
  • Maintain the configuration management system.
  • Facilitate the change control steps.

Essentials Skills:

  • MSP qualified.
  • Risk and issue management experience (the individual will be assuming an existing risk and issues management structure - they do not need to be an expert in the implementation of the process).

Desirable Skills:

  • Wider project/programme experience.
  • Experience managing dependencies, assumptions and opportunities.
  • Previous ARM (risk management tool) and ADAMs experience. Training can be provided for these tools.
  • Previous experience within Defence.
