Finance Business Partner

Sopra Steria Recruitment are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a major client in the Glasgow area. In this role you will deliver consistent financial planning, forecasting, analysis and reporting activities to support the Chief Customer Officer and the PDDC's management team in appropriate and timely decision-making. The role will engage with and influence senior partners to achieve strong financial assurance and collaborative working, and to drive appropriate project financial decision-making by both internal and external customers. The role will support the Chief Customer Officer and any delegated SRO's within the Directorate with review, assurance and completion of any business cases to support project and financial governance. Critical to this role is the ability to listen, interpret, influence, negotiate, inspire and challenge. The post holder will also work closely with other Finance Business Partners (FBPs) in the company, sharing good practice and ensuring a coherent business partnering service to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). They will also help develop the new Associate Finance Business Partner roles to ensure career progression and resilience in the function.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering high quality budgeting and financial reporting to drive business performance:

  • Providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies whilst improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance
  • Interpreting, explaining, reporting on and driving performance within the directorate
  • Lead and complete the budget for the directorate adhering to the budget setting process as defined by the Finance Department and completing to timetable. Provide support and challenge to ensure forecasts are robust throughout the year
  • Advising on key business planning assumptions, trade-offs and opportunities as well as ad hoc analysis and insights on specific issues
  • Complete and continually review the savings/strategy benefits plan that links into the medium term financial plan.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Experienced qualified accountant at a senior level
  • Experience of project accounting and recharging processes
  • Excellent leadership and delegation skills and ability to present with clarity and passion
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills
  • Significant track record of working with finance systems within a complex environment
  • Significant experience of investment analysis, project appraisal and financial modelling
  • In depth knowledge of Project and Programme management governance frameworks.
