Financial Controller, Projects, Reporting, Budgets

Major Telecommunications provider is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Professional to a major programme of work. This is a pivotal role within the programme; ensuring that robust and aligned financial reporting and controls are built and maintained. The role will require engagement across a variety of programme, business and technical teams.

The candidate will need to have a strong financial and reporting background with a proven track record of delivery in a cross functional department combined with good business stakeholder management skills.

What does the role involve?

The primary point of contact to the programme for all financial processes, reporting and metrics.

Assimilate new approved budgets entering the programme and work with other financial teams to model existing financial spend and associated impacts.

To build and maintain the Integrated financial plan

  • comprising deliveries across the following mechanisms:
  • All workstreams under the programm umbrella
  • All other Transformational programmes
  • Line of Business Roadmaps

Undertake detailed financial planning to support the programme and Line of Business Planning areas of the business:

  • Work closely with internal partners to understand financial baselines and other financial based dependencies
  • Create Financial plans for the programme and associated workstreams
  • Responsible for financial management reporting, incl highlighting over and underspends as well as tracking to forecasts.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to all BT and EE financial processes.
  • Single point of contact to the programme team for all financial undertakings
  • Responsible for creation, review and management of purchase orders.

Collaborate across the following teams to ensure key financial decisions and delivery impacts are understood and actioned:

  • Portfolio Director
  • Programme Managers
  • Project Managers
  • Development & Test partners
  • Deployment managers
  • PMO team

The type of person we are looking for

Must Have

  • Experience working within a Project Management environment
  • Strong Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Excellent technical/analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrable examples of working and supporting finance processes
  • Demonstrable examples of reporting in a large, fast paced programme to all levels of management

Nice to Have:

  • Experience of working within mobile telecoms industry.
  • Experience of working in a complex multi system IT environment with significant volume of change.
  • Experience of working with different IT delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, etc.
  • Prince2 or PMP/PMI certification
