The Role Description
To deliver Control, Electrical and Instrumentation (CE&I) commissioning and pre-operational engineering activities in support of the Commissioning & Pre-Operation Manager.
Essential & Desirable Skills
Essential
Prior experience acting as a commissioning engineer on control, electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment; at least five years relevant experience and training in the commissioning of systems and equipment and all safety and plant isolation aspects of commissioning.
Demonstrable experience in the production, checking and approval of commissioning and engineering deliverables including quality plans, commissioning strategies, test plans, drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
Broad knowledge of industry consensus standards, processes, procedures and methods relevant to the CE&I commissioning areas with a full understanding of underlying principles.
Proven ability to manage and prioritise own workload against multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Can demonstrate having the ability to engage and impact on others and work effectively as part of a wider team.
Ability to ensure minimum standards and fundamental process requirements are maintained when under pressure to deliver and ability to challenge others at all levels of the organisation.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Proven experience in the production of high quality technical reports, specifications and commissioning documentation.
Desirable
Previous appointment and experience as AP(e) and/or NP(e). Experience in general project management areas, work planning and schedule/programme management.
Main Responsibilities
To act as a CE&I commissioning & pre-operation engineer for selected systems and equipment, to support in project delivery.
Support the development of the commissioning strategy, plan, scope and detailed commissioning and pre-operations activity schedule for company programmes and projects.
Production of commissioning and pre-operations documentation to ensure appropriate and adequate specification and delivery of system or equipment commissioning.
To be trained and appointed as Appointed Person Electrical (AP(e) or Nominated Person Electrical (NP(e) for commissioning and general purpose project electrical investigation works & isolations (as required).
Production, selection, checking, development and delivery of optimised fit for purpose engineering and commissioning solutions balancing aspects of safety and environmental performance, operational effectiveness and constructability.
Generating and/or managing the generation of CE&I design and commissioning deliverables including specifications, calculations, Health & Safety requirements, technical reports and drawings etc.
Supporting the close-out of engineering related actions and audits.
Ensuring all engineering and commissioning work is carried out in accordance with the relevant Engineering processes and supporting management system documents.
Identifying appropriate engineering standards and practices to be used for the delivery of engineering work.
Promoting and facilitating best practice and the sharing of CE&I and commissioning LFE across the business.
Participation in engineering study meetings, design reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs, Design Authority Technical Reviews, Document Review Committees, as required.
Qualifications
Ideally accredited by an appropriate professional institution (ie Incorporated/Chartered Engineer) or capable of achieving Chartership and working toward that objective
