Sellindge, Kent.

Initially until the end of the March 2019 with extensions following

Major Convertor Station Refurb

Pontoon has just received 2 excellent long term opportunities with a major blue chip Utility client based at theit site in Sellindge, Kent as Project Engineers. You role will be scope out and define the work packages of this project as well as run your rule over the design specifications.

This project is to refurbish a Convertor Station in Sellindge which contains 2 transformers which in affect will cost £350 million over a 5-7 year period.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide appropriate project input into the pre-sanction design process in ET/Project Development, including review of the proposals for SHE management, project risks, deliverability, and safety performance
  • For major projects - Develop, implement, and manage the major project process, engaging with ETO/Development, L&D Community Relations (CR) to ensure robust designs and programmes are in place.
  • Management of the programme, budgets, quality, and risks and Community Stakeholders to preserve National Grid reputation
  • Develop, implement, and manage project delivery, design, safety by design, commissioning, scheme closure and post-completion requirements.
  • Manage and co-ordinate Contractors and project teams, including the co-ordination and integration of projects across Delivery Vehicle and Delivery Unit boundaries, to successfully deliver projects to time, cost and specification and with minimal disruption
  • Provide regular project monthly status reports which will include: SHE performance, milestone progress, risk management and current and forecast financial performance
  • Perform the role of CDM-coordinator or arrange for the provision of a CDMC for each project as required under CDM Regulations and enact the role of Commissioning Panel Chairman
  • Monitor Contractor site activities to ensure compliance with National Grid SHES standards, Health & Safety, Environmental legislation and CDM regulations
What I'm looking for:
  • Educated to at least HNC/HND level or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • TP144 (Desireable)
  • Major project experience within Electrical or Gas Transmissions
