Job Description:

Scrum Master

The Scrum Master is responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum and Agile. The Scrum Master does this by helping everyone understand Scrum/Agile theory, practices, rules, and values.

The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the Scrum Team. The Scrum Master helps those outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are helpful and which are not. The Scrum Master helps everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Ensure that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team as well as possible

Collaborate with the product owner and project team on implementing techniques for effective Product Backlog management

Help the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items

Understand product planning using data driven tools and dashboards

Ensure that the Product Backlog is arranged to maximize value

Understand and practice agility

Coach the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality

Help the Development Team to create high-value products

Remove impediments to the Development Team's progress. Work with program and project managers to resolve issues for the team

Facilitate agile ceremonies including the Daily Stand-up/Scrum, Grooming Session, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review/Demo, and Sprint Retrospective

Coach the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood

Promote quality practices - Provides guidance to assist the team in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables, enhancing scrum team efficiency and meeting the Definition of Done (DoD)

Communicate with project management and stakeholders; help protect the team from uncontrolled expansion of work/scope creep

Coordinate inter-team cooperation and dependencies, and help the team operate well on the project/program

Identify and elevate the visibility of dependencies within and across the teams for a smoother release

Coordinate with the DevOps/Release Coordinator to have an effective software release. This includes current releases and planning future ones

Ensure defined software development processes are followed

Lead and coach the organization in Scrum adoption

Plan scrum implementations within the organization including coordination of dependencies between his/her scrum teams and other scrum teams

Help employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development

Cause change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team

Work with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization

Provide input to continually improve software development processes

Communicate Scrum team metrics and performance summary to peers and leadership

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in an Information Technology/Software Development organization (various roles is ok)

Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience with Agile development processes

Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience acting as a Scrum Master full-time

Must be delivery/results oriented and accustomed to working in a fast paced environment

Strong problem solving skills is required

Strong verbal and written communication skills is required

Good experience conducting release planning and milestone planning (based on the velocity)

Good technical skills with a good grasp of basic software systems concepts

Analytical and technical skills needed to define, create, and track key performance indicators for the team

Experience doing release planning and milestone planning (based on the velocity)

Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM)

Experience with Microsoft development stack and tooling is required (TFS, VSTS, Azure DevOps)

Experience supporting at least 2 scrum teams concurrently

Work experience with diverse roles within IT/Software a big plus
