Pontoon has an excellent opportunity for a P6 Planner to join one of the UK's leading Utility companies based in the Midlands. To support Project Development engineers and Major Infrastructure Development senior project managers in the production of suitable project schedules and the subsequent monitoring of the plan for project control purposes.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the drafting and shaping of individual project plans from first principles using an agreed work breakdown structure to support Project Development Engineers and Major Infrastructure Development Senior Project Managers. These projects will focus more on single site projects and will interface with individual scheme teams.
  • Obtaining support as required, progress each project every month to ensure all projects are monitored for project controls. in line with the monthly reporting cycle, checking accuracy and consistency of data, as well as supporting the end of year reconciliation process As an example this includes the progression of Level 4 schedules.
  • Own a portfolio of projects containing a combination of up to 40 development projects which will be phased over the month and/or a portfolio of 6 MID projects in different stages of the Network Development Process.
  • Co-ordinate across individual project risk registers to identify generic risks across the portfolio and flagging them up
  • Ensure long term outage requirements are being agreed with Market Operations and ETAM and that linkages between individual projects are in place to enable change impact assessments to take place
  • Responsible for drafting the schedule section for the monthly project controls report for the given projects
  • Support the Primavera P6 System Administrator taking responsibility for undertaking processes associated with Primavera System Administration function for all Primavera databases

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Experienced in using Primavera to create project plans and progress them using a pre-defined work breakdown structure
  • Experienced in using Primavera to optimise a programme as a whole being familiar with the issues that arise and how to overcome them
  • Proficient knowledge of the typical projects undertaken, their durations, issues at the various stages such as development or execution and steps that can be taken to modify the plan to allow it to fit inside a programme of work.
  • Proficient understanding of how individual projects interact with each other as a result of the outage plan
  • Basic knowledge of the environment in which Capital Delivery operates. Examples of this include health & safety legislation, planning legislation including the process around Development Consent Orders etc.
  • Proficient in project management, scheduling principles & cost management
  • Basic knowledge of earned value management principles
  • Must have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proficient in working to tight deadlines
  • Proficient experience of influencing individuals and small groups, persuading, communicating, challenging and negotiation skills
