Finance Systems Analyst

6 Month Contract - Craigforth

This role will sit in one of the Finance sub-functions and will contribute to the achievement of one or more of these outcomes in order to deliver the vision for Finance.

This role requires strong numerical and analytical skills and is suited to someone who has previous practical experience across a range of Finance specialisms building practical experience and a broader understanding of the function and/or wider business. Individual accountabilities will be specified in objectives but could cover any of the high level activity areas captured in this role profile. The role-holder will be accountable for components of a complex process or designing and developing new or improved solutions to meet business objectives.

Purpose of the Role

  • To coordinate the delivery of services or support to the Finance function, which will include the production and maintenance of financial information for analysis, models, reports, regulatory returns, accounts or MI systems
  • To coordinate and test migration of data and reports to a new policy administration platform and embed processes into business as usual function
  • To design solutions to support the delivery of change projects within Finance

Technical Capabilities

Experience

  • Experience of conducting detailed data analysis, including "before and after" comparisons
  • Experience of the specification, build, testing and documentation of custom MI reporting systems
  • Experience of communicating findings and results of analyses in the appropriate format to ensure understanding, determining the most appropriate message and delivery method
  • Experience of carrying out functional and non-functional testing and communicating on defects for remediation
  • Some experience of disseminating quality information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Some experience of the production of financial results and the implementation of financial controls
  • Manage the defect life cycle and have the ability to advise on tests to put in place after fixes are made.
  • Some experience of accurately communicating business issues to appropriate parties and providing support to stakeholders
  • Able to think outside the box, ask the right questions and critically evaluate and communicate findings.

Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel, VBA and SQL.
  • Experience of SQL Server, including analysis services and reporting services
  • Some knowledge of life insurance and finance/actuarial function
  • Working knowledge of decrement analyses
  • Working knowledge of the overall finance, legislative and consumer environment as relevant to M&G Prudential
  • A track record of successful delivery under time pressure and close deadlines
  • Working knowledge of how governance, risk and compliance processes impact on M&G Prudential
  • Knowledge of policy administration systems
  • Some knowledge of M&G Prudential products, systems and distribution methods
  • Some knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Some knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks
  • An understanding of the commercial implications of decisions
