Finance Manager - Ashton-Under-Lyne - NHS - 3 months - £249 a day via umbrella

You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, and will act as the lead financial specialist within the service. This will require the provision of expert financial expertise into the development and management of the Integrated Business Plan, Service Development Strategy and Cost Improvement Plans. The role will include the negotiation and monitoring of existing financial contracts as well as delivery of new business and growth.

As a senior accountant within the Finance department, this role includes the management accounting responsibility for the DBU and the direct line management responsibility of the Management Accountant and Management Accounts Assistant for the DBU.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the Head of Management Accounts to ensure that all Internal Audit management actions are reviewed and completed in line with the agreed action plans.
  • Act as the Finance lead for the DBU linking in with the wider Finance team to ensure appropriate financial management of the DBU's services on behalf of the Integrated Network Director.
  • Prepare Divisional Accounts (including a detailed forecast of the position) and provide supporting management information being guided by relevant accounting policies, internal policies, procedures and timetables.
  • Plan and organise month end procedures with the Management Accountant and Management Accounts Assistant formulating and adjusting plans to ensure that reporting is timely and consistent with the wider Finance function.
  • Maintaining controls and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of assessments, accruals and adjustments.
  • Work closely with other members of the Finance team to ensure consistency of service provision across the department.
  • Provide accurate, timely, appropriate reporting and advice to enable budget holders to control their performance.
  • To investigate and interpret budget variances and trends using discretion to agree appropriate action with managers to avoid further overspends, and to develop recovery plans/mitigations.
