The Supply Manager supports the Regional Supply Chain Planning Director in assembling a full view of Supply Chain Issue Management and Core Commercial Cycle processes and is responsible for the consultation and communication between LOCs and the Supply Chain Planning/Site Planning teams to ensure a consistent, clear direction on overcoming short-term supply chain issues (eg low stocks) and a consistent plan for delivering future supply chain changes.

The Supply Manager is also responsible for the inventory position of the LOCs and the resulting supply replenishment plan with the Sites. The supply plans will ensure that there is the appropriate level of inventory available in the corresponding MMWs/LSPs and LOCs.

This role will provide connectivity between the Pharma supply chains and the markets served within a Region. Specifically the Supply Manager will be responsible for approximately SKUs, split across one or more therapies and for a number of markets within the region.

Describe the key deliverables to be achieved by the post holder and the ongoing responsibilities of the role

The Supply Manager is responsible for managing a catalogue of SKUs.

Depending on the type of portfolio, the key responsibilities are:

supports the Regional Supply Chain Planning Director to execute the Regional Performance Management (including analysis of stock-out/low-stock and impacts, KPI performance, root-causing and proposed mitigations, etc) and the S&OP process (including preparation and feedback loops to Commercial)

consults and communicates between LOC and the multiple Supply Chain Planning teams (Regional and Site) to highlight any on stock-out/low-stock situations.

is the main contact/escalation point for PMs to allow a more detailed impact assessment and to support prioritization

consults and communicates between LOC/Regional Demand Forecasting Manager/Regulatory across multiple change' processes with regards to timings, forecasts, order dates, and inventory impact

provides a regional response and co-ordination to special processes, including Product Recall, Transfers, Divestment, and Discontinuation

monitors supply planning KPIs to drive improvement in inventory levels, stock write-offs and customer service
develops an appreciation of the commercial supply chain and the capability of suppliers to respond to changes in demand
is responsible for the execution of the agreed standard Supply Chain Issue Management (SCIM) processes in alignment with the agreed planning calendar
drives SCIM resolution through performance management, highlighting and resolving any supply issue at SCIM Level 1 and keeping Commercial stakeholders informed of status and progress
escalates any unresolved issue to Supply Chain Director for resolution at SCIM Levels 2 & 3
is accountable for DRP parameters (Distribution Requirements Planning), including safety stock, lead time and MOQs (Minimum Order Quantity) to ensure proper production planning and inventory management are in place and in line with the Service Level Agreements reached with Customers or Multi-Market Warehouses
is ambassador for change management and continuous improvement across the Supply Chain to drive collaboration and partnership
owns and develops the relationships with Supply Sites (Site Relationship Manager role) and strives towards creating an efficient supply chain which operates at optimum cost (on transport, warehousing and inventory) to ensure right first time supply to patients and customers
contributes to Supply Chain Review Meetings

Whenever applicable, Supply Managers will have the added complexity of managing relationships with independent companies such as ViiV, where there is a need to ensure that the conditions of any Service Level Agreements are met. Under certain circumstances it will be necessary to refer decisions back to the independent company. Failure to make the correct judgement at this point could compromise the relationship with the independent company and GSK.

In some other cases, the therapy area will be characterised by supply issues and a significant proportion of the business driven by tenders. This additional complexity requires the ability to manage demand which is binary in terms of win/loose alongside the private market sales following the normal pattern of Pharma sales.

Educational Background

University graduate or relevant practical experience.

Supply chain related discipline, logistics, supply management, demand management, operational management.

Role requires the individual to be highly numerate with sound knowledge of how supply chains operate end-to-end. Needs detailed understanding of business environment and ability to debate complex issues with peers, seniors & colleagues.

Level of Education

Supply Chain Professional Qualification.

Area of Specialisation Supply chain related discipline, logistics, supply management, demand management, operational management.

Why is this Level of Education Preferred? To understand more deeply the implications of the sum of the supply chain changes occurring with the markets and provide guidance/insight back to the Supply Chain teams on the implications and opportunities.

Experience

Describe what experience this position will require the job holder to have obtained in past roles within or outside of GSK that would demonstrate a level of proficiency in the stated role.

Experience in multiple business cycles in either or both a Commercial Sales/Marketing/Demand Forecasting/Finance operation, or an end-to-end Supply Chain Planning role in a Pharmaceutical environment, preferably managing strategic therapies/brands/market.

Sound and in-depth understanding of Supply Chain Planning through either usage and/implementation of processes.

Why is this Level of Experience Required? This role requires subject matter expertise in Supply Chain Planning as topics within this need to be communicated and considered in the discussion/resolution with the LOC of specific issues and change' processes.

Background

Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English, and preferably fluency in one or more additional European languages.

Strong planning ability & able to work on own initiative.

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead cross functional teams.

Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.

Highly numerate and good knowledge of supply chain forecasting software systems and processes. Knowledge of SAP APO is an advantage.

Proactively seeks opportunities to increase value by raising standards & championing best practices.

Team management and ability to mentor and support the development of less experienced members (new joiners).

Strong networking, planning and organisational skills with a demonstrated capability to manage complex projects with short timelines.
