Senior Finance Analyst - 6 months - Chesterfield
My Chesterfield based client is currently looking to recruit a Senior Finance Analyst for an initial 6 month contract.
The purpose of the role is to provide relevant and timely financial analysis to evaluate and challenge performance of the costs which impact the P&L and investment decisions.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience;
- Provide financial support and management information to evaluate and challenge monthly and quarterly performance of all areas of cost which impact the function.
- Provide analysis and KPI's to highlight areas of investigation and month end variance analysis
- Identify Risks and Opportunities and highlighting through the appropriate channels
- Provide analytical support for the budgeting and forecasting processes, specifically
- Developing and managing robust templates and models for input of budget submissions for staff and non-staff costs
- Prepare phased budget templates and align with Core Finance Systems
- Upload of budget submissions into the finance systems
- Support preparation of presentation materials for ExCo and Board reviews
- Manage the budget during the year including adjustments and transfers between functions
- Highlight performance issues for review in relevant monthly Performance Reviews
- Provide quality analysis to support business cases and benefits evaluation
- Participate in cross Finance initiatives and workstreams
- Approval of Purchase Order requisitions within the agreed company levels
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with any specific legislative, regulatory, or contractual requirements.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- Good understanding of finance systems (particularly SAP and Business Objects packages)
- Computer literacy/numeracy with strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills
- Experience in a commercialfinance environment
- Ideally, experience of Personal financial Services and/or telecoms business
- Month end and budgeting processes
Qualifications required
- Broad range of accountancy skills, ideally qualified or part qualified accountant with CCAB recognised qualification (eg ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or working towards full qualification
Skills required
- Good analytical skills, with the ability to effectively summarise and interpret data
- Good understanding of Finance systems, particularly SAP and Business Objects
- Commercial acumen
- Good communication and skills, particularly the ability to communicate complex financial issues simply to non-finance people
- Computer literacy/numeracy with strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills
