Description

Contract Purchasing Manager is required for a global Engineering company, with offices in Darlington. A 12 month position to start on January the 2nd or sooner, hourly rate basis, 37-45hrs per week.

This role involves high level purchasing management; looking at continuity of supply - capacity & materials, allocation across the plants, price negotiations and some new contract negotiations. There is strong links to the Global Assembly leader in the US and the Purchasing Managers are very much a part of that global team

They will need to ability to work to strong time lines and manage the expectations of senior leaders in the business.

Job Summary:

Conducts complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply base; applies analysis to purchasing process improvement initiatives. Identifies qualified suppliers and executes sound source selection processes. Has regular interface with suppliers within area of responsibility and maintains the supplier relationship.

Qualifications and Competencies Competencies:

Analyze issues - Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of analysing issues. Critically identifies an issue's scope and parameters while analysing it from multiple perspectives.

Determines the root causes as well as broad implications of issues. Integrates information and defines an array of alternatives. Applies a wide variety of analytical tools and processes (eg Six Sigma) on a regular basis to complete key projects and solve complex problems.

Develop systems, processes - Solid understanding of how to develop systems and process. Applies systems and processes to improve and complete work at a team/departmental level. Works to eliminate system and process inefficiencies and roadblocks.

Demonstrates consistent use of structured work documentation (eg communication channels, work steps, procedures, checklists, or flow charts).
