Programme Accountant

Location - London

Rate - £688 p/day via PAYE or £882 Umbrella

Start date - ASAP

Contract - 6 months

Our financial services client is currently seeking an experienced Programme Accountant to join their team in the London office/remote working for an initial 6-month contract.

The Programme Accountant will support the wholesale NFR leadership team to provide robust financial planning, management, tracking and reporting of the functions budget and headcount plans. They will also have direct responsible for the day to day financial management and reporting of key global projects.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support the project managers and programme directors across cost & FTE reporting, investment case production, ad hoc analysis and financial decision support to reach targets
  • Manage BAU annual operation plan activities including ongoing tracking reporting
  • Overall coordination of capitalisation, amortisation and accruals across wholesale cost centres
  • Oversee business planning activities which include financial, technological and resource planning
  • Ensure plans are developed with costed stages and milestones.
  • Be accountable for the consolidation and delivery of monthly MI reporting, forecasting and analysis covering both BAU budgets and overall Global Programme costs.
  • Attend key leadership committees and provide decision support and business analysis for project management.
  • Implement and manage an effective change control process.
  • Ensure project reporting to all executive committees is consistent and fit for purpose
  • Provide support and guidance with financial reporting for Regional and Global Business leads
  • Ensure appropriate recharge policy is developed and implemented.
  • Ensure appropriate capitalization policy is implemented and that amortization is tracked.
  • Identify problems and implement solutions, making decisions based on sound rational judgment.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4+ years cost reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience in a complex multinational organisation with a project costing focus of 2+ years (essential experience for preselection)
  • Ability to develop relationships and influence senior management and colleagues.
  • Effective communication skills, especially with respect to briefing stakeholders on the key performance messages.
  • Top class analytical skills, able to understand complex situations, to quickly identify the key issues, opportunities, and actions required in order to provide commercial recommendations and 'insight' to business partners.
  • Professional accountancy qualification with relevant post qualification experience.
