Main purpose of role:

To be part of a team providing complete, accurate and timely Business Intelligence to support performance, research and education.

Key Responsibilities:

The Deputy Data Warehouse Manager provides management of and direction for the maintenance and development of this important Trust asset. The role provides specialist advice where required and oversees internal and external technical resources. They will be responsible for providing a service that supports reporting and analytics to internal customers and mandatory reports to external stakeholders. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, the role supports the Data Warehouse Manager to prioritise areas for development. The Deputy Data Warehouse Manager reports directly to the Data Warehouse Manager and deputises in their absence.

Main Tasks:

  • Support the Data Warehouse manager in ensuring the Trust's Data Warehouse is appropriately maintained and updated to meet the specific needs of the Trust.
  • Support highly complex Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes and manage Microsoft SQL server databases.
  • Provide specialist technical support for the existing set of database applications.
  • Ensure the Trust submits accurate and timely datasets to NHS Digital's Secondary Uses Service (SUS), which is the public record of the Trust's activity and the mechanism by which it receives £millions of income.
  • Develop and maintain technical standard operating procedures used by the Data Warehouse team and ensure they are followed.
  • Support the Data Warehouse system architecture, assist in whether data items/tables are correct, ensure data anomalies identified are investigated and instigate corrective action where required. Develop and automate quality assurance procedures, establish audit trails for each item of data being held & reported in the warehouse to enable data validation tests to be applied.
  • Ensure version control framework is applied to the Data Warehouse.
  • Manage the system administration of the Data Warehouse and Trust's Business Intelligence reporting system, eg manage access rights of users giving them role-based access rights to certain data only, setting up groups and managing licenses; be a principle point of contact to solve reporting system problems.

The post holder will be responsible for managing data warehouse team members and leading projects.
