Industrial Engineer - Scotland - Contract (Inside IR35)

Summary of Role:

Provide Industrial Engineering support to our client sites, functions and customers. The role requires a multi-skilled engineer to develop production layouts and support the physical implementation of the shop floor changes through project management techniques. The Industrial Engineer will provide technical and project management support for these site changes including facilities, equipment, infrastructure, IT and manufacturing.

The Key Responsibilities of a Industrial Engineer:

  • Provide detailed factory and line layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Lean manufacturing and equipment capacity analysis.
  • Participation in initiatives focussed on process improvement and cost reduction of existing lines
  • Develop innovative process solutions and proposals for new layouts or line changes.
  • Analyse and determine equipment, facilities and support requirements for existing/new equipment or processes.
  • Able to provide optimisation of assembly lines using work flow analysis, time and motion study, ergonomics and human factors analysis.
  • Provide detailed technical reports, presentations and information to support projects.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions or customers to ensure requirements are met.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Industrial Engineer, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD relating to factory and line layouts.
  • PC literate mainly Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project.
  • Knowledge of project management and proved ability to run complex production line changes.
  • Ability to present and deliver concepts at all levels of the business.
  • Strong understanding of the key cost drivers in the set-up, development or support of projects, products and the manufacturing process.
  • Degree in an Engineering science eg Industrial Engineering or any of the following: Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing Systems engineering.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Significant Industrial Engineering experience relating to factory layouts, line changes, CCA automation/equipment and production area process improvements.
  • Experience of Health and Safety, risk assessments and other legislation.
  • Ability to create detailed information quickly and present effectively.
  • Knowledge of site facilities/utilities, supply chain requirements and material handling.

Please note that the client has determined that the off-payroll working rules will apply to this assignment and therefore this contract will be run through an Umbrella Company. Income tax and primary national insurance contributions will be deducted at source from any payments made to the intermediary.
