Description

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Senior User Researcher for an initial 3 month contract with the potential to extend by a further 3 months on a rate of £500-£550/day (inside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances this role will be remote based for the foreseeable future.

Responsibilities:

- Working with another senior user researcher to plan and execute a range of remote user research activities according to project needs, with the possibility of returning to field and lab based engagements later this year.
- Selecting and applying appropriate user research methods and tools to assure best practice and ensure that research findings are robust, actionable and suited to the overall aims and objectives of the project.
- Facilitate the inclusion of different types of users in appropriate research activities, working closely with the ethics panel which has been established to monitor user research in this sensitive area.
- Advocate for accessibility, assisted digital, and inclusive design practices and helps teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users.
- Support teams to continually improve their understanding of and engagement with users.
- Provide actionable insights to support design decision making.
- Undertakes development and or assurance of ethics and consent processes, and supports the development of privacy and equalities impact assessments.
- Participate in and/or support programme and project assurance activities.

Essential Skills:

- Experience in a digital research setting, designing and delivering a wide range of inclusive user-centred design research including: negotiating research briefs, leading research activity, and delivering actionable insights.
- Demonstrates the ability to choose and apply appropriate user-centred design research methods (from data gathering to synthesis and analysis) for different design life cycle phases and situations.
- Ability to communicate research approaches and insights effectively in such a way as to stimulate conversation and collaboration.
- Knowledge of other user centred design practices and experience of collaborating with them for service delivery.

Desirable Skills:

- Experience of working on sensitive research topics
- Experience working in the public sector
