Job Description for the Enterprise Content/ECM or Document Management Domain Application Specialist:

My client a leading technology strong professional services company is currently going through an exciting IT transformation which will strategically change the way it delivers IT support and services to its business and end users. To help support this strategic initiative, a new IT Application services unit is being introduced, which will become the delivery unit for end users requiring IT support and services along with support delivering strategic and tactical projects.

This position is part of Application services team helping deliver the departments overall objectives in the short and long term. The role will be expected to liaise with the Service delivery and project delivery counterparts, to ensure that the applications are supported & projects are delivered to the highest standards.

Scope of the Enterprise Content/ECM or Document Management Domain Application Specialist role:

  • Provide 2nd line support for business applications under role scope (Business Collaborator/Project Wise).
  • Analyse business needs as they relate to client business objectives and creation of lean processes.
  • Develop solutions on Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain platforms according to business requirements.
  • Support new project implementation aligned with business objective and solution architecture.
  • Implement new releases of existing business application software, capturing end user requirements and configuring, testing and integrating with business systems as necessary.
  • Produce specifications and designs for application and its components to meet defined business needs, retaining compatibility with enterprise and solution architectures.
  • Specify, design and maintain mechanisms for storage and access to both structured and unstructured information, in support of business information needs.
  • Facilitate productive relationships with and between key stakeholders, during the Planning management and implementation of business change, as applicable.
  • Ensure that project and business application support documentation is maintained.

Major accountabilities of the Enterprise Content/ECM or Document Management Domain Application Specialist role - Approx % of time spent in role:

  • Responsible for application support and Continual Improvement taking into account functional and non-functional requirements - 50%.
  • Work with an Implementation Partner/contractors to coordinate the development/implementation of services/application/component and the Configuration Management Database - 20%.
  • Performing integration and process automation as per support or project need - 10%.
  • Performing system and integration testing - 10%.
  • Implementing IT quality assurance practices and procedures - 10%.
  • Experience and capability requirements for the Enterprise Content/ECM or Document Management Domain Application Specialist role:

    • Good technical knowledge and experience in Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain.
    • Experience of working in large scale and complex enterprise environments
    • Proven hands-on experience of Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain support, configuration and integration
    • Strong understanding of configuration dependencies and integration points between business systems and Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain
    • Strong Technical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexible and a proactive team player.
    • Knowledge of one or more Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain solutions such as OpenText, Sharepoint, Documentum, Lexmark etc
    • Foundation in IT Service Management (ITIL v3) is desirable.

    Capability requirements for the Enterprise Content/ECM or Document Management Domain Application Specialist role:

    • Experienced Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain specialist.
    • Experience in issue analysis and recommend solutions for Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain related technical changes.
    • Experience in impact analysis of support pack and upgrades for Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain.
    • Act as single point of contact for Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain related technical issues to project and support teams.
    • Knowledge of Business Collaborator.
    • Knowledge of Project Wise.
    • In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Content or Document Management Domain process with a proven track record of supporting, implementing and improving applications.
    • Knowledge IT Service Management toolsets, including Knowledge Base & Configuration Management.
