Role: Assistant Financial Accountant

Client: Global Record Label

Location: Kensington

2-3 months initially (contract)

Inside of IR35

Key Responsibilities:

The objective of this role is to support the Finance Manager in ensuring the costs in the monthly management accounts are accurately recorded and reported within strict deadlines. The role will also assist in the production of the statutory accounts, various tax and VAT returns and maintain the fixed asset registers. The role is a Central Finance role focusing on the Company Overheads.

  • To prepare and upload all month end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and recharges, to ensure that overheads are accounted for correctly.
  • To undertake meaningful variance analysis to assist management in understanding the businesses cost base and drive efficiencies.
  • To prepare detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure any issues are resolved prior to the month end close.
  • To provide the Financial Controller with recommendations on how to improve the Company's overheads process.
  • To business partner with budget holders to better understand their cost base and ensure the correct allocation of expenses.
  • To assist in the preparation of the annual overheads budget.
  • To maintain the fixed asset register ensuring costs are capitalised appropriately and depreciation is calculated correctly.
  • To assist in the preparation of the statutory accounts and tax packs for the group.
  • To liaise with the auditors during the quarterly reviews, interim and annual audits.
  • To assist in the preparation of the companies VAT return including the reconciliation of UK and foreign VAT.
  • Preparation and submission of the Intrastats and EEC sales lists.
  • To maintain intangible assets register including monthly postings of amortization.
  • To complete national statistic forms monthly.
  • To prepare employment tax returns including the PSA and P11Ds.
  • To assist the Finance Manager in forecasting cash-flows on an annual basis from an overheads perspective.
  • To review and approve monthly intercompany payments.
  • To assist the Finance Manager and Financial Controller with any ad hoc requests.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • ACCA/CIMA part qualified.
  • Experience of working in a similar role and a proven track record.
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to work through problems logically.
  • Diligent with excellent attention to detail.
  • Initiative, drive and strength of character.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours around key Finance deadlines.
  • Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • GFS (Nominal ledger), Business Objects, financial reporting software (HFM)
