Description

This role sits within the clients Consumer unit, Base Value & Personalisation (BV&P) and manages one of the largest consumer bases in the UK (30M customers across Fixed Broadband, Mobile and TV services, generating £10B revenue annually).
This is a new, multidisciplinary department made up of 350 people across multiple teams:
commercial teams (customer facing with P&L accountability)
operational teams (providing the strategic insights, capabilities and business rules to support commercial teams plus developing a set of enhanced capabilities)
data teams (data engineers, data scientists, modellers)
BV&P is on a mission to integrate its customer base across the clients Consumer brands and communicate with their customers from a unified, household perspective. It is driving personalisation at scale of the customer experience, across all interactions, using rich data and sophisticated machine learning models. They are investing to develop commercial capabilities which will improve their ability to leverage their data, build seamless customer journeys, grow their value-add per customer and optimise retention/reward loyalty. The department is initiating a transition from a traditional project management model to an Agile working model.
This role is an opportunity to work across both strategy and data-led customer innovation, helping shape the commercial engine of the company as it transforms from a traditional telco model into a consumer technology business. You will be part of the growing Strategy & Planning team (comprising predominantly ex-consultants), reporting to the SPO (Head of Strategy and Planning) for BV&P.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Supporting the Head of Strategy and Planning with the definition and implementation of the BV&P strategy, and reviewing/optimising resource allocation (people, Capex, Opex) to support it
Working closely with all BV&P teams (35 of them) to gather insights and making recommendations on how to best steer the department
Leading BV&P's representation for select, cross-department strategic projects (from scoping to execution), advising and interfacing with senior commercial executives at Director-grade and above
Shaping the development of enhanced capabilities and identification of commercial use cases throughout the business, making the case for investment (Capex, Opex) where required
Identifying new commercial opportunities in the customer base
Conducting analysis and deriving insights with support of a data scientist team
Supporting the quarterly commercial and capability planning sessions with all squads and other marketing teams (propositions, products, channels and trading) plus BV&P's interface with Finance
You'll have the following skills & experience
Strong strategic skills, required with experience of implementing strategies in complex and rapidly changing industries (2-4 years with a Tier 1 strategy consulting firm or Specialised TMT consulting firm)
Excellent analytical and organisational skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to influence senior stakeholders across a range of complex issues
