Description

Product Owner required to work for a Government department. This is an initial 3-month contract, paying £450 a day, inside IR35, remote until further notice (offices based in London)

The Product Owner will work closely with the service manager and the development team to ensure that the digital products that are being developed will support user's needs. The Product Owner will have an up to date knowledge of the video hearing processes and how they are administered in an operational environment.

As a strategic leader, you will provide clear direction, visibly drawing out and championing the changes which deliver service transformation for the end user and greater efficiencies. Strong communication and influencing skills will be essential as the role will involve working closely with stakeholders, staff, managers and members of the judiciary, to help design and implement new business processes whilst also helping them to understand and come to terms with the impact of the changes.

Key Responsibilities:
*Ensure that the digital products being developed meet all users' needs
*Work with the service manager and delivery manager to develop the product vision and roadmap
*Attend feature kick-off sessions to outline solutions based upon business goals and user needs
*Work with the Business Architect to refine the product backlog and prioritise user stories for each sprint
*Attend sprint planning and lead sprint demo/review sessions which will be held in London
*Provide continuous feedback on content and design solutions that are being developed
*Accept user stories that form a key part of the product development when completed.
*Understand programme/project requirements and ensure proposals developed meet them.
*Identify key stakeholders and their requirements and ensure where appropriate their needs are incorporated through engagement and discussion.
*Take an active role in establishing clear delivery plans and monitor for performance
*Manage conflicting demands through negotiation and re-prioritisation.
*Draft papers and presentations for the team as required
*Act as daily representative for the Service Manager in engagement with customers, stakeholders and suppliers.
*Identify and manage issues which may impact or be impacted by the programme.
*Direct and draw on the expertise of service suppliers to identify and implement innovative solutions for new and unusual challenges.

Essential Skills/Criteria:
*Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build high performing teams
*Ability to lead others through a period of cultural change and to make it a positive experience
*A strong background and understanding of civil work in an operational environment
*Skilled at operating through ambiguity; proactively identifying and solving nebulous problems to address key business issues
*Self-awareness (eg aware of impact on others, aware of own development needs), self-regulated, and with strong ethics.
*Demonstrable experience of delivering complex and diverse projects under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills/Criteria:
*Knowledge of video hearing process would be advantageous
*Experience of Judicial engagement would be advantageous
